Letters – About the green room(mar 14\17)

Hey you know where you will find me?    In the green room.  It’s my favorite place in the house right now.  It’s warm, a little on the humid side, very sun shiny and a new favorite tea tottling spot.  One of these days very soon I am gonna have to dig out my beautiful tea cups and really enjoy a cup of tea.

We are growing….he he he……unit is almost done……

expansion in the making

The green room is where I grow all the micro greens, wheat grass, oat grass as well as the pea shoots and sunflower sprouts. By far my most favorite part of the house when its dreary outside or whenever I need a pick me up I go there.  I water the plants talk to the plants and listen to music in there.  Watch some of my bulbed flowers coming back to life as well as my beautiful orchids.

I use to have a beautiful collection of orchids when we lived in Whitby but when we moved here they were much to delicate to move with us, so I gave them all away.  But this past year with some of the changes we made in the house I decided that I wanted to start collecting them again.  They are just so beautiful and given the right environment they flower so beautifully.

Things are going really well for me/us at the market, it’s so exciting.  I talk and interact with a lot of people and it just reinforces my love for what I do.  I love gardening and now in my last career of my life I am at my most fulfilling.  It is so amazing to see the following we have.  I love interacting with my regular clients who are enjoying what I pour my heart and soul into.  It’s also cool to here them boast about our products to other potential clients.

I had a fellow brother in Christ come and pray a blessing over the business and that warmed my heart in ways I can’t explain.  He anointed me with oil and prayed a beautiful prayer over the business.  I can say without a doubt that we have been lead to do what we are doing.  I feel the hand of God in what we do.  We have always asked God to allow us to also bless others with what we grow and we have been and the warm feeling you get is beautiful.

I truly believe that it is a gift from God, the ability to grow.  I here people comment every week-end about how hard it is for them to grow stuff and I realize that it is a gift from God. Thank you Lord:) My lemon tree is doing really well finally……..I have 2 large lemons growing, and a bunch of new leaves with flower blossoms that smell heavenly.  We have also started some onions but we need to get a bunch more now that our garden expanded by an acre..

We have made our seed shopping list and already have some pretty cool heritage seeds to start and try.  We are going to have to consider getting two hoop houses really soon  actually very soon and I am going trust that I will be able to get them for a good cost.  I am already planning in my head how I want the micro green house to be as I believe I am going to need a permanent spot set up to expand the micro greens.  I have had a few chefs interested in the products and asking about herbs which we have start to grow so…..I feel that this being a foodie island and all I will have no problem securing a couple of growing contracts for sprouts, specialty mushrooms and herbs.  Its all a huge dream come true.  I have for so many years dreamed about growing fruits and veggies and plants to sell and it only took us moving to this beautiful quaint island to see the dreams come true.
I offer free samples of all the products I grow and its amazing how people are so engaged when they are offered a sample to try no obligation:)

I also didn’t realize how much of a sales person I am, its been so much fun.
This week I am trying out bean sprouts…the kind you put in a Chinese stir fry….they are grown form mung beans and have to be grown a particular way so far so good…..in about 2 or 3 more days I will be able to tell how they are going and if it is something I will incorporate to our product list.  It is something that people are asking for so I don’t doubt that I will be able sell them…..word gets around as to what I sell and people are looking for me.  Next weeks sample will be corn shoots another interesting seed to grow…..this one is grown so it stays yellow and are apparently very sweet.  I am having so much personal enjoyment from it that it almost seems wrong that you could enjoy your work/job so much…..

Well I gotta run for now the plants need watering and there is a cup of tea waiting for me:)….stay tuned for next weeks update.
